For the past three years, the PM of Serbia has been Aleksandar Vucic. Duginist media like Katehon complains that he plays both sides (EU and Russia). Vucic was just elevated to president, and has proposed Brnabic, a Vucic loyalist, as PM. Sputnik reports that, though she is known to be pro-EU, Vucic trusts that she will maintain Serbia’s Eurasian ties too. She has yet to be approved by the Serbian parliament, various politicians are already declaring for or against her.

Aleksandar Vucic is sucking up to the Cathedral… hard. His positions are unequivocally pro-Bruxelles / pro-Washington, but public opinion here is a limiting factor (after all, many here despise the US, and love Russia) so he cannot go too far. If my suspicions are right, next he’s going to change the constitution so that same-sex “marriage” becomes possible (and maybe also recognize independence of Kosovo in the process). Other than that he’s just a regular post-Communist Eastern European kleptocrat. As for the MIGs, Serbia is buying six of them for a bit more than twenty million dollars, Russia isn’t giving them away. That’s because of Serbia’s current four military aircraft, one is out of commission and the other three are going to be decomissioned soon. Now I am not an expert on military hardware, but I don’t think you can buy Western fighter jets so cheap.
